IWP/Writing Center Workshop: “Making High School Writers College Ready”

Thanks to the teachers who traveled from near and far to join us (even in the rainy weather) for our first Indiana Writing Project/Writing Center joint workshop! We had great discussions about goals of first year composition courses, common struggles of college and high school writers, and ways writing centers can work to support learning writers.

Writer of Ball State: Katie

katie.jpgSometimes you get a boring paper, but you have to #MakeItWork. “It makes it a lot more passionate to write when it relates to you. Because, if you are just forced to write something that you find boring, doesn’t apply to you, isn’t a subject you are interested in, you won’t enjoy writing about it. Plus it takes so much effort to do it.”

Writers of Ball State: Sam & Hannah

Everyone needs a#WritingBuddy. Hannah and Sam are the#DreamTeam when it comes to academic writing.
“We had two very different approaches to our [English class] paper. But we had so much fun reading each others’ papers, talking over it, grading it.” -Samantha.
“It is fun to have a group of people who get together out of class and actually talk about ideas and get excited” -Hannahsam.jpg
